Outlaws cruise to win over Privateers

ALEXANDRIA BAY — New Jersey used four unanswered goal across the first and second period to cruise to a 7-2 Federal Hockey League win against Thousand Islands on Saturday at the Bonnie Castle Arena.

After Michale Byrd gave Thousand Islands (27-8-2 overall) a 1-0 lead at 5 minutes, 11 seconds of the first period, the Outlaws struck for four straight.

Kevin Cooper, Jason Reese, Travis Kauffeldt each scored before the period’s end. Then, Trevor Karasiewicz scored just 4:57 into the second to put New Jersey (32-5-0) squarely in front, 4-1.

Adam McAllister stopped the streak with a score at 5:56 of the second. But New Jersey closed the period with two more goals and added one more in the third period.

Seven different players scored for the Outlaws, which now holds a 13-point lead in the FHL standings over second-place Thousand Islands.
