Massena cruises by Canton for 14th straight victory

CANTON — The Massena hockey team scored three goals in the first period and held off Canton to win their 14th straight game, 4-1, and remain perfect in Northern Athletic Conference play Monday night at Canton.

For Massena (14-2 overall, 10-0 league) Luke Bender, Ryan Chauvin, Connor Dix and Dillon Stone all scored goals while Dix and Chauvin each added an assist.

Jesse Gilbert scored for Canton (2-10-3, 1-5-2).

SALMON RIVER 5, MALONE 1

At Tom Cavanaugh Arena, the host Shamrocks raced out to a quick 3-0 lead and cruised to the NAC Division II win.

Ty Terrance finished with four assists and Oakley Thomas scored twice for Salmon River (11-2-1, 8-2).

Cameron Daniels scored for the Huskies (1-14, 1-5).

OFA 5, ST. LAWRENCE 0

Drew Costigan delivered one goal and two assists and Trey Lawrence collected one goal and two assists to lead the Blue Devils, who stayed tied for the NAC Division II lead.

Dave Prudhomme handled 24 saves in goal for OFA (9-4, 9-2).

BOYS BASKETBALL

LISBON 88, CLIFTON-FINE 21

Kyle Binion generated 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked six shots to pace the Knights past the Eagles for a West Division win at Lisbon.

Jimmy Robinson tallied 24 points and 14 rebounds for Lisbon (10-4, 8-1).

Clifton-Fine dropped to 0-15, 0-8.

TUPPER LAKE 49, COLTON-PIERREPONT 35

Mitch Keniston scored 17 points and Jordan Garrow added 16 for Lumberjacks (5-9, 3-5) in their East Division win at Colton.

Alex Bonno scored 15 points for the Colts (4-10, 1-8). Nick Avery added 11.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MASSENA 41, MALONE 29

The Red Raiders put together a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter to earn the win and close the gap in the race for top spot in the NAC Central Division.

Alisha Jacobs led all scorers with 15 points to go with five rebounds and three steals for Massena (11-3, 4-1).

Morgan Fountain led Malone (11-3, 5-1) with 11 points.

SALMON RIVER 54, CANTON 37

Abby Kelly scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Shamrocks to a North Division win at Canton.

Karyss Terrance tallied 14 points for Salmon River (11-3, 5-0).

Emily Rexford paced Canton (7-8, 3-3) with 15 points.

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 51, POTSDAM 39

Jessica Jacques scored 26 points to send the Sandstoners to an interdivision victory at Potsdam.

Sandra Martin supplied eight points for Brushton-Moira (7-6).

Sarah Vivlamore tallied a team-high 15 points for Potsdam (3-11).

MADRID-WADDINGTON 50, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 31

Shelby Gausby scored 19 points as the Yellowjackets defeated the host Panthers in East Division play.

Bridgett Beldock scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, for Madrid-Waddington (9-3, 6-1).

Jena Jacot scored seven points for Parishville-Hopkinton (3-9, 2-6).

TUPPER LAKE 49, COLTON-PIERREPONT 28

Katie Stuart scored 18 points to lead the Lumberjacks past the Colts in an East Division game at Colton.

Carley Aldridge added 14 points for Tupper Lake (10-4, 6-2).

For Colton-Pierrepont (2-12, 2-6) Morgan Doyle scored 10 points.

gouverneur 50, OFA

Kirstin Roberts scored 21 points and Megan Morrow added 10 as the Wildcats (3-11, 1-3) used a stellar defensive effort to reverse an earlier Central Division loss to the Blue Devils.

Megan Dodge netted 17 points to lead the OFA (6-9, 2-4) and Mackenzie Cole and Felicia Barr followed with 15 and 13, respectively.

HAMMOND 51, CLIFTON-FINE 40

Alyssa Crosby scored 11 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Red Devils picked up a West Division win at Hammond.

Gabby Marshall added 10 while Courtney Bova chipped in 10 more for Hammond (11-3, 8-1).

Hunter Hitchman tallied 15 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds for Clifton-Fine (10-3, 3-3).

HARRISVILLE 62, HEUVELTON 57

Desi Andrews posred 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead five Pirates in double figures in their West Division win at Harrisville.

Janel Swanson tallied 14 points, Kelsi Bango added 12, while Kathleen Coloney and Amy Paro finished with 10 each for Harrisville (9-7, 3-5).

Emily Ross scored 17 points and collected four rebounds and three steals for Heuvelton (8-6, 3-5).
