After halting a motorist late Wednesday in the town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies alleged finding marijuana and “trace amounts” of heroin in the vehicle.

Samuel N. Royston, 24, of 219 E. Hoard St., faces six charges in connection with his traffic stop on Route 12F in the town of Hounsfield. He was released to await arraignment on charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, unlawful possession of marijuana, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving without a license and following too closely.

A “residual amount” of suspected heroin was found on a bent silver spoon, deputies said.
