Temgoua, Capello head SLU weekly honorees

CANTON — St. Lawrence men’s basketball player Ralph Temgoua, and Casey Capello of the women’s team, were each named Liberty League performer of the week, highlighting a group of seven athletes from the university to receive weekly awards from the league on Monday.

Temgoua, earning the honor for the fourth time this season, averaged 18.5 points to lead the Saints to wins over Clarkson, Hobart and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Capello helped the Saints clinch the league’s regular season title against William Smith on Friday with 19 points, eight steals and six assists. She averaged 12.7 points during the Saints’ 3-0 week.

From the women’s track and field team, Hannah Kinsey was named the track performer of the week, Eliza Bell is the co-field performer of the week, and Megan Hulton is the rookie of the week.

Jarell Roberts was selected as the men’s track performer of the week, and Chasity Barcomb was named the women’s diver of the week.

■ Clarkson freshman Brooke Butkovsky was named the Liberty League’s women’s basketball rookie of the week, the school announced on Monday. She came off the bench to average 12.3 points on 67-percent shooting over a three-game stretch.
