Lowville man charged with injuring kitten

LOWVILLE — Village police on Thursday charged Matthew J. Owens, 21, of 5590 River St., with cruelty to animals.

Mr. Owens was accused of, on Jan. 30, injuring a 6-month-old kitten in his care by throwing and kicking it. The animal suffered blunt force trauma injuries, including a torn lower lip, bleeding inside one of its eyeballs, cuts to both ears and a broken hind leg, police said.

Mr. Owens is to answer the charge in Village Court.
