Man jailed following thefts at Watertown motel

A resident of the Relax Inn, 19325 Route 11, town of Watertown, was jailed Sunday night on allegations that he raided coin-operated appliances at the facility by using keys stolen from the innkeeper’s apartment.

Dean S. Stevens, 49, was arrested by state police on charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny. LeRay Town Justice George E. Mead III set bail at $2,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

He is charged in a theft Sunday evening estimated at between $200 and $300, according to a police document, and was identified with a security camera recording. Innkeeper Jyoti Patel told a trooper the keys to a washer and dryer were stolen from her apartment.
