A city man twice Thursday violated a woman’s orders of protection, and was locked up Sunday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to await arraignment Monday in Watertown City Court, according to city police.

Marcus E. Hood, 26, of 1042 State St., Apt. 2, was initially cited early Thursday with “refrain from” stipulations of a Family Court order of protection after he allegedly entered the apartment of Summer E.J. Bettis, 25, at 340 N. Rutland St., and punched her in the face, police said. He was arraigned before City Judge Eugene R. Renzi on charges of felony criminal contempt and second-degree criminal trespass the same day, and was released. The judge issued a new protection order specifying that he stay away from Ms. Bettis, police said.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, he returned to the Bettis apartment, pounded on her door and shouted profanities, police said. He was arrested Sunday night in the 300 block of Arsenal Street on a charge of second-degree criminal contempt. Since court was not in session Monday, in observance of President Lincoln’s birthday, he was detained for arraignment today.
