Rye blanks OFA to earn weekend split up north

OGDENSBURG — Rye earned a split of a north country weekend trip by blanking Ogdensburg Free Academy 7-0 on Sunday.

Six players scored single goals for the Garnets (13-5-1), who were led by Mike Benincasa’s one goal and three assists and Chris Lipari’s two goals.

The Garnets of Section 1 lost a 6-3 decision to the Islanders on Saturday.

Aidan Talgio stopped 26 shots to post the shutout for Rye. Dave Prudhomme (19) and Andrew LeBeau (21) combined for 40 saves for the Blue Devils (13-6).
