MONTAGUE — A Rochester man was injured in a snowmobile crash at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday on Rector Road in the town of Montague.

Lewis County sheriff’s deputies said Eric E. Schmelzer, 30, was driving west on a 2005 Ski-Doo MX Z when he lost control of the sled while cresting a hill, causing him to be ejected.

He was taken by Lewis County Search and Rescue to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, and later transferred to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for treatment of a severe leg injury.
